Description

The Angel Inn is an inn dating from around 1800, located on Loftus High Street. It is constructed of dressed sandstone and features a late 20th-century interlocking clay pantile roof, which has a stone ridge, gable copings, and a shaped kneeler at the right end. The stacks have been partly rebuilt in brick. A plain clay tiled roof covers the bay windows. The building is two storeys high with three windows. Access is from the left through a segmental-headed carriage entrance that has voussoirs and mid 20th-century boarded double doors beneath timber blocking in the tympanum. There are two early 20th-century canted bay windows with sashes under a common lean-to roof. The first floor has late 19th-century sash windows with painted sills. The building features a corniced ridge and right end stacks. A two-storey rear wing is present but is not of special interest. The Angel Inn is included for its group value.
