Description
The Presbytery is a house dating from around 1800, which has been altered and had its windows changed in the late 19th century. It now serves as a Roman Catholic Presbytery. The building is constructed of dressed sandstone and has a Welsh slate roof, with some stacks partially rebuilt in Pease brick. It is two storeys high and features a three-window entrance front facing west. The central entrance has a four-panel door flanked by sidelights and an overlight, all within a timber doorcase that includes pilasters and an entablature, with panelled reveals. The windows are sash style with painted sills. The roof is hipped at the right end and has two ridge stacks and one end stack. On the front facing High Street, there is a two-storey flat-roofed bay window from the early to mid-20th century, featuring casement windows and a bracketed eaves cornice on the right. On the left, there is a canted bay window with sash windows, painted sills, and a cornice, located below a first-floor sash window with a painted sill. The late 19th and early 20th-century rear extensions are not considered of special interest. The building is included for its group value.
