Description

Nos. 40 and 42 Westgate are a pair of cottages, now functioning as a shop, dating from the early 19th century. They are constructed from chevron dressed sandstone and feature a late 20th-century concrete tiled roof. The building has two storeys and five bays. The ground floor has late 20th-century shop fronts, while the right-hand side has a sash window. The first floor is adorned with sash windows that include glazing bars, and there is a blocked window on the left-hand side. The stone sills are painted. This building is noted for its group value with No. 38 Westgate.
