Description

A pair of cottages, later used as a shop, was built in the early to mid-19th century. The cottages are constructed of brick with a stone plinth and have a clay tile roof. They feature stone gable and ridge copings, and an off-centre brick stack. The arrangement is two storeys high with painted stone sills. Number 48 has a mid-20th century door on the right-hand side and one sash window with glazing bars to each floor. Number 50 has a mid-20th century shop front on the ground floor, alongside a rear access passage on the left-hand side; it also features two sashes with glazing bars to the first floor. The rear (north) elevation is of dressed sandstone with two Yorkshire sashes with glazing bars to the first floor. Rear extensions are not of particular architectural interest, as they are modern additions. The buildings hold group value within the streetscape.
