Description
Two standing stones, known as Six Stoups, are located approximately 335 meters south-west of Ridge Farmhouse. These are two of the five remaining standing stones from the post-medieval period. The stones are made of roughly-dressed limestone. The stone on the north side of the road measures approximately 28 cm by 30 cm and stands 1.2 meters high, featuring a hole about 3.5 cm in diameter that passes through the shaft between its north and south faces, positioned 50 cm above the ground. The stone on the south side of the road has its upper part broken off and is approximately 25 cm by 30 cm and 66 cm high, with a benchmark inscribed on its north face. Together, these stones mark the end of the moor plateau road and the approach to Birk Brow bank.
