Description

Grange Farmhouse and Farm Cottage is a farmhouse from the early 19th century, accompanied by a mid-19th century farm cottage and a slightly later outhouse. The buildings are constructed from vertically-tooled dressed sandstone, with mid-20th century concrete tiled roofs. The cottage and outhouse are also made of dressed sandstone, featuring a brick gable end and stone gable copings on the cottage, while the outhouse has clay pantiles.

The farmhouse is two storeys high with five bays and a slightly projecting central bay that has a pediment. The central doorway is segment-headed and set in a painted rusticated surround with a double-keyed lintel, leading to a mid-20th century door. The windows are sash style with glazing bars, painted keyed lintels, and sill bands. There is a moulded eaves cornice and a blind lunette in the tympanum of the pediment. The hipped roof has two corniced transverse ridge stacks, and the rear features a part-blocked stair window with a keyed lintel.

Adjoining the rear is a lower two-storey farm cottage with one window. It has a blocked door and mid-20th century casements in the original window openings, with a keyed lintel on the ground floor. A lean-to outhouse is attached to the gable end, and there is a mid-20th century brick lean-to extension to the outhouse that is not of special interest. To the west of the farmhouse, there is a range of farm outbuildings that have been much altered and are also not of special interest. The farmhouse was formerly known as Lazenby Grange Farmhouse.
