Description

The retaining wall and stair to the forecourt of Wilton Castle were built around 1810. They are made of dressed sandstone and feature chamfered copings on the wall. The central stair has ten steps and is flanked by walls that are splayed at the top. There are square and octagonal terminal piers with chamfered plinths, moulded cornices, and shallow pyramidal caps. This structure is included for its group value.
