Description

Foxrush Farmhouse, built in the early to mid 18th century, is a brick building featuring a sandstone plinth, hammer-dressed sandstone quoins, and a stone eaves band. The roof is made of clay pantiles with stone ridge and gable copings. The garden wall, constructed from coursed squared sandstone rubble, surrounds three sides of the garden to the south of the farmhouse. The farmhouse is two storeys high with three windows. It has a central four-panel door set in a flat hammer-dressed stone surround, which is under a gauged brick flat arch from an older, narrower opening. There is a similar stone surround for a blocked central window on the first floor. The ground floor features paired Victorian sash windows, with the left window having glazing bars, and a mid-20th century casement window in the original opening on the right side. The building has gauged brick flat arches and stone sills, along with end stacks that have stone caps. A garret light is present in the left return. Inside, the farmhouse includes a beamed ceiling, an inglenook fireplace, a heck partition, and a moulded firebeam in the right room on the ground floor. There are single-storey extensions on the left and rear of the farmhouse that are not of special interest. The garden wall features flat copings.
