Description

REDCAR KIRKLEATHAM LANE, NZ 52 SE west side (Off) 4/76 Foxrush Farmhouse and garden wall. G.V. II

Farmhouse early/mid C18. Brick with sandstone plinth, hammer-dressed sandstone quoins and stone eaves band. Clay pantile roof with stone ridge and gable copings. Coursed squared sandstone rubble garden wall. 2 storeys, 3 windows. Central 4-panel door in flat hammer-dressed stone surround under gauged brick flat arch of older, narrower opening. Similar surround to blocked central first-floor window. Paired Victorian sashes, those in left ground-floor window with glazing bars. Mid-C20 casement in original opening on ground floor right. Gauged brick flat arches and stone sills. End stacks with stone caps. Garret light in left return. Interior:beamed ceiling, inglenook fireplace, heck partition and moulded firebeam in right room on ground floor. Single-storey extensions at left and rear are not of special interest. Garden wall, around 3 sides of garden to south of farmhouse, has flat copings.
