Description
Westfield House is a farmhouse and farm cottage that has been combined into one residence. It dates from the mid 18th century, with the cottage being raised by one storey in the mid 19th century. There is a late 19th-century rear porch and an east extension. The building is constructed of brick with rendered gable ends and features clay pantile roofs, along with stone and brick gable copings.
The house is two storeys high and has two windows, with the entrance now located at the rear of the cottage. The garden front includes late 19th-century canted bay windows with sashes and glazing bars on the ground floor, while the first floor has renewed sashes set under gauged brick flat arches. A stepped brick eaves cornice and end stacks are also present. The cottage is slightly recessed on the right side, featuring a renewed door and overlight on the left, a late 20th-century enlarged casement window on the right, and 20-pane sash windows on the first floor. The rear of the farmhouse displays scattered fenestration with cambered heads and renewed glazing, including a mid-19th-century two-storey canted bay window with renewed sashes at the right end. The farm cottage has a lean-to porch, and the extension includes lean-to outshuts.
Inside, there are two-panel doors in moulded wood surrounds on both floors. An adjoining barn, now used as a garage and workshop, has been significantly altered and is not of special interest.
