Description
Little Waterfall Farmhouse and the adjoining outbuilding are located on Whitby Road in Guisborough. The farmhouse is a late 18th-century adaptation or reconstruction of an earlier 17th-century building. The lower parts, which make up most of the ground floor, are constructed from squared random rubble sandstone and dressed sandstone, while the upper part is made of brick. The roof is covered with clay pantiles and features stone ridge and gable copings, with stacks at the gables and plain stepped brick corbelling at the eaves. The building is 1½ storeys high and has three cross tie-plates between the floors on the north and south sides.
The farmhouse consists of two bays, with Yorkshire sash windows featuring glazing bars on the ground floor. The first floor has mid-20th-century casements with glazing bars in the original openings. The ground floor windows have keyed lintels. The east gable is supported by a pair of raked dressed sandstone buttresses. There are two chamfered basement window openings in the east wall, along with one blocked window opening to the basement on the right-hand side of the front (south) elevation.
The listing also includes the single-storey lean-to outbuilding that adjoins the west side of the farmhouse. This outbuilding is also from the late 18th century and is made of dressed sandstone, brick, and clay pantiles.
