Description
South Lodge is a house built around 1857, possibly designed by M.W. or S.S. Teulon, who also designed Gisborough Hall. The building is constructed of dressed sandstone with a plinth and features a clay pantile roof. It has shaped Flemish gables on the northeast and west sides, along with two corniced stacks. The house is designed in an "L" plan and has two storeys. It includes stone mullioned, leaded-light casement windows, as well as canted stone bay windows on the north elevation (two storeys) and the south elevation (single storey), which are built into the boundary wall. A semi-circular-headed doorway on the west elevation is topped with a deep semi-circular hood supported by corbels. The building also features quoins and is part of an architectural group with Gisborough Hall, located 280 meters to the northeast.
