Description
These farm buildings date from the 18th century and are located approximately 60 yards northeast of Pawston House. They are constructed of random rubble and feature roofs made of Scottish and Welsh slate. The buildings are arranged in an L-shape and consist of single-storey shelter sheds, with a two-storey stable and granary extending to the rear.
The east facade, which faces the road, has a long blank wall of shelter sheds on the left. The left gable has a gabled roof topped with an urn finial. On the right, the gable end of the stable and granary features four steps leading up to a stable-type door, flanked by small four-pane windows. There is also a half-slatted window on the first floor, all beneath a steeply-pitched Scottish slate roof.
Inside the farm yard, the shelter sheds are supported by 14 square piers, each with boarded doors and slatted screens. The stable and granary have a boarded door and two windows on the ground floor, with an old beam forming a continuous bressumer over all three openings. To the right, there are external stone steps leading to the granary, which has six small slatted windows.
