Description
West Learmouth Farmhouse is a house built in the early to mid-19th century. It is constructed of ashlar stone and topped with a Lakeland slate roof, featuring an L-shaped plan. The building has two storeys and three bays. The centre bay is recessed and includes a round-headed doorway with an archivolt and keystone. The windows are 12-pane sashes, and there is a band at the first floor level. Large square modillions are present above the centre bay, with a cornice around the rest of the building. The eaves soffit is deep, and the roof is shallow-pitched and hipped, with brick ridge stacks.
The right side of the house is divided into three sections. On the left, there is a segmental bow with two 12-pane sashes on each floor. The slightly-recessed centre section has a 6-panel door with a 4-pane overlight to the right and features a modillion cornice. The right section has two 12-pane sashes and two renewed casements.
Inside, the farmhouse has a broad staircase with turned balusters and a wreathed handrail, along with 6-panel doors and shutters. There is a 20th-century sun lounge added to the front, which is not considered of special interest.
