Description

Pressen Farmhouse is a house dating from the early 18th century, which was extended and partly remodelled around 1870. The building is roughcast with ashlar and painted ashlar dressings. It has two storeys and consists of five bays arranged in three sections. The original three-bay centre features a 20th-century sun lounge. The ground floor has renewed sash windows, while the upper floor has 12-pane sashes. To the right, there is a one-bay service wing that is recessed. The left addition, dating from around 1870, includes a two-storey canted bay with a steep pyramidal roof. The roofs are gabled with flat copings and kneelers.

Inside, there is a panelled room from the early to mid-18th century. This room features a moulded fire surround flanked by full-height fluted pilasters, along with a panelled overmantel that has a triglyph frieze. The fielded panelling includes moulded skirting, a dado rail, and a wood cornice. There is also a round-headed corner cupboard with an archivolt, a moulded key, and shaped shelves. The window reveals are panelled with fluted half-columns at the corners.

The open-well stair has iron lyre-shaped balusters supported by elaborate cast-iron brackets.
