Description

The Castle of Wark-on-Tweed is a ruined castle dating from the early 12th century. It was rebuilt between 1153 and 1156 and later extended. The structure is made of random rubble and was originally a motte and bailey castle featuring a large, irregularly shaped shell keep situated on the motte. Currently, only the motte remains, along with the rubble core of the keep walls.
