Description
The kitchen garden, cottage, and cartshed located approximately 60 yards north of Eslington Park were built around 1874, incorporating earlier materials. The structures include brick and random rubble with ashlar dressings, and feature a cast-iron gate.
The large walled garden has its main entrance through a long, 10-foot high brick wall on the south side. The gateway, dated 1874, displays the Ravensworth crest above a four-centred arched entry, topped with a castellated parapet and pepper-pot finials. The gate is supported by spearhead standards. The north and west walls are made of stone and include sections that are much older. Notably, the north wall features a Tudor doorway with a hoodmould. There are also lean-to greenhouses that were added in 1911.
In the southwest corner of the garden, there is a gardener's cottage and a cartshed. The cottage has two bays, a boarded door, and a two-light mullioned window, along with a diamond-paned window in the gable end. Attached to the rear is a three-bay cartshed supported by square piers.
