Description
Mountain Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in 1857 by mason John Ferguson for the Earl of Ravensworth. It is constructed from dressed stone with ashlar dressings and features a Welsh slate roof. The building has a chamfered plinth and raised alternating quoins, and it is designed in a T-plan over two storeys.
The facade has three bays, with 16-pane sash windows in the outer bays. The central bay features a tall two-light mullioned stair window with round heads to the lights. All windows are surrounded by raised alternating-block surrounds.
The gabled roof has kneelers, ridged coping, and corniced end stacks, with square stone blocks supporting the guttering. The entrance is located on the left return and consists of a solid stone extruded porch with a panelled door set in a chamfered segment-headed surround. The rear wing has similar windows, but the east side on the first floor features 16-pane sashes in half-dormers.
Inside, the farmhouse includes a staircase with stick balusters, as well as six-panel doors and shutters.
