Description

Plessey Mill, located next to Plessey Mill House, is a water mill that was originally built in the 18th century and later remodeled and heightened in the 19th century. The building is constructed of coursed rubble with cut quoins and dressings, featuring tooled-and-margined upper floors, and has a Welsh slate roof.

The west elevation has four storeys and three bays. The central bay is set forward and contains tall boarded double doors. Above this bay, the wall is blank except for two circular iron plates that hold tie-rods, with various windows on the two-bay right return. The bay to the left of the projection has an arched opening, which has later glazing, leading to the wheelpit. The bay to the right features a stable door with a boarded loft door above it. The windows include various small-paned sashes and 20th-century small-paned casements. The roof is hipped, and there is a banded stack on the right side.

At the rear, there is a two-storey section with a pent roof and a lower gabled wing that projects beyond, featuring similar window styles. All machinery has been removed from the mill.
