Description

HEDGELEY SHAWDON NU 01 SE 8/251 West Lodge at 31.12.69 Shawdon Hall GV II

Lodge, perhaps 1858 by John Dobson. Tooled-and-margined ashlar; Lakeland slate roof. Elevation to drive 1 storey, 2 bays, symmetrical. Plinth, frieze, eaves cornice. Central slightly-projecting open-pedimented porch with 6-panel door and plain overlight. 4-pane sash windows in moulded stone surrounds with slightly-projecting sills. Coped gables; central stepped- and-corniced ridge stack with paired shafts. Left return shows triple sash window with pilasters and raised apron, and pedimented gable.

Rear extension with Welsh slate roof is not of special interest.
