Description

Laundry Cottage, located to the west of the stableyard north of Shawdon Hall, dates from the early 19th century. It is built of ashlar stone with tooled-and-margined dressings and features a Welsh slate roof. The cottage is a single storey with seven bays. The first and sixth bays each have a segmental-arched recess that contains a 12-pane sash window flanked by 8-pane sashes, all set above a sill band. In the second bay, there are half-glazed double doors beneath a round arch, surrounded by alternating vermiculate blocks. The building also has 12-pane sash windows, coped gables, and small stepped-and-corniced end stacks, along with two ridge stacks. A later link block to the south and an estate office to the north are not considered of special interest.
