Description

HEDGELEY SHAWDON NU 01 NE 8/246 Laundry Cottage, on west of 31.12.69 stableyard north of Shawdon Hall GV II

Laundry and cottage, early C19. Ashlar with tooled-and-margined dressings. Welsh slate roof. 1 storey, 7 bays. 1st and 6th bays each have segmental-arched recess enclosing 12-pane and flanking 8-pane sashes sill band. In 2nd bay half-glazed double doors under round arch with surround of alternating vermiculate blocks. 12-pane sash windows. Coped gables; small stepped-and- corniced end and 2 ridge stacks.

Later link block to south and estate office to north are not of special interest.
