Description

The Hall Cottage, located to the north-east of Bagshaw Hall, is a former laundry building, now a house, dating from approximately 1685, with later alterations. Constructed of coursed, dressed sandstone, it has a stone slate roof.

The cottage has a single storey and an attic, with a symmetrical facade and a three-window range. Features include a chamfered plinth and prominent quoins. The central doorway is defined by chamfered quoins and a deep lintel, currently containing 20th-century double doors with an overlight. Renewed two-light windows with square-faced surrounds and eight-pane casements are positioned to either side. A central gabled dormer features a four-pane casement in a mullioned two-light window. The dormer and gable ends have shaped kneelers and chamfered gable copings.

The left return shows an inserted central window flanked by traces of original double-chamfered windows. The interior, which has not been inspected, is known to feature a chamfered spine beam with run-out stops and common joists within the entrance hall.
