Stable Block at Meldon Park and Wall to South

The stable block at Meldon Park, dating from the early 19th century, is constructed from tooled and margined squared stone and features a slate roof. It forms three sides of a rectangular yard that is open to the west. The east range is two storeys high, with seven symmetrical bays. It has a plinth and a moulded eaves cornice. The central three-bay section includes giant round-headed arches that enclose double doors, with Diocletian windows above. The flanking bays project slightly and contain 16-pane sash windows, while the narrow end bays have boarded doors topped with cast-iron deer's heads, which are now missing their antlers. The roof is hipped and features a central cupola with a clock beneath an octagonal louvered drum and a spirelet, flanked by cruciform ashlar stacks. The north and south ranges are each one storey high with five bays, also featuring a plinth and moulded eaves cornice. These ranges include 16-pane sash windows, a segmental carriage arch, and a stable door with an overlight, all under hipped roofs. To the south of the east end of the south range, there is a wall made of tooled square stone with flat coping.
