Description

This early 19th-century gate lodge, likely designed by John Dobson, stands at the entrance to Meldon Park. It’s constructed of ashlar. The building is single-story and one bay, with a plinth, cornice, and parapet featuring moulded coping. A canted front, leading to a drive, has three steps up to a central six-panel door sheltered by a Tuscan porch. Flanking the door are shortened nine-pane sash windows, with moulded sunk panels directly below the sills. The lodge has a flat roof and a tall, corniced stack at its centre. Later additions to the rear are not considered to be of significance.
