Description
Carrsgate East is a house and former byre dating from the late 18th century, with a 19th-century rear wing. It is constructed from roughcast rubble with stone dressings, featuring a renewed Welsh slate roof and rebuilt brick chimneys. The building has a T-plan layout, with the main block and a wing at right angles to the rear. The front is two stories high with three bays, incorporating the former byre on the left side. The quoins are raised and chamfered. The house has a replaced door situated under a 20th-century gabled porch, with replaced casement windows in flush surrounds on either side. The byre includes a partly-blocked doorway and an opening above, featuring large alternating jambs and inserted casements. The roof is continuous, with stacks at the ridge and right end. There is a Dutch door and breathers located on the left return of the byre. The rear section of the house features a two-story gabled wing.
