Description
Moorside Cottage is a house and former byre, now functioning solely as a house. It dates from the late 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed from squared sandstone and features a pantile roof with brick stacks, one of which is rendered. The house has a central entrance and was later extended into the altered byre on the right side.
It is two stories high with a two-window front and a two-window extension to the right. The front features a four-panel door on the left and four-pane sash windows throughout. All windows have stone sills and timber lintels. The openings on the right side of the front are 20th-century alterations on the ground floor, while the first floor has large-pane horizontal-sliding sashes. The gables are coped, with kneelers and end stacks on the left front. The cottage is included for its group value.
