Description
Jasmine Cottage is a house from the early 19th century that incorporates parts of an earlier structure. The front is made of hammer-dressed sandstone, while the rear and the rebuilt sections are constructed from coursed sandstone rubble, topped with a pantile roof. The building is two stories high with a single-window front and a single-storey lean-to on the left side. The two-storey front features a 20th-century door with an overlight to the left of a 12-pane sash window, and there is a similar window on the first floor. All openings have vertically-tooled lintels and stone sills. The eaves are stepped, and the gables are coped with shaped kneelers. There is a stack on the right end. The lean-to has a 20th-century board door to the left of a two-light, large-pane horizontal-sliding sash window. Remnants of herringbone-tooled quoins from the earlier building can be seen on the ground floor to the left of the two-storey front. The cottage is included for its group value and was formerly known as Central Cottage.
