Description
Ford Cottage is a house and workshop, now functioning solely as a house. It dates from the 18th century, with 19th-century extensions and 20th-century alterations. The structure is built from coursed sandstone rubble and features irregular quoins, topped with a pantile roof. The house has a central-entry plan and was later extended into a workshop on the left, with additional extensions at the rear.
The front elevation is two stories high and has four windows. There is a 20th-century board door located to the center right. The windows that belonged to the former workshop are two-light, small-pane, horizontal-sliding sashes, while the remaining windows are similar but consist of three lights. All windows have stone sills and renewed lintels over the openings. The building features coped gables and shaped kneelers, along with end and center stacks. This property is included for its group value.
