Description
Melkridge Hall is a house built around 1830, with later 19th-century rear wings. It features squared stone in narrow courses with dressings, a graduated green slate roof, and stone chimneys. The building has a reversed U-plan, with a main block and two wings at the rear. The two-storey, three-bay main block has a plinth and raised quoins. It includes a six-panel door and fanlight with radial glazing, situated under a central, partly-glazed porch that has angle columns, a frieze, and a cornice. The windows are four-pane sashes set in raised surrounds. A deep eaves cornice is supported by groups of three stone brackets. The low-pitched hipped roof is topped with two corniced ridge stacks. The similar two-bay returns lead to lower two-storey rear wings, which have scattered sashes and low-pitched hipped roofs. A 20th-century rear addition between the wings is not of special interest.
