Description

High Town House is a house dated 1741, as indicated by the re-cut doorway keystone. It is constructed of coursed rubble with stone and brick dressings, topped with a Welsh slate roof and features stone and brick chimneys. The house is built on a sloping site and consists of two sections: a two-storey, three-bay left section and a three-storey, two-window section on the right. The left section features a rusticated round-arched door surround with the keystone inscribed "TIB 1741," flanked by replaced French windows, with sash windows above in raised surrounds. The right section has a varied arrangement of windows in raised surrounds. The continuous roof has end stacks and a ridge stack at the junction, with the right end stack having a rebuilt brick top. There are 19th-century additions at the rear and a 20th-century addition on the left return, which is not of special interest.
