Description

This boundary stone, likely from the 18th century, is made of tooled sandstone and stands 0.60 metres high. It has a segmental top and features incised Roman letters: "P H" for Pauperhaugh on the east side and "R" for Rothbury on the west side. The stone marks the north-west corner of a 0.111 acre detached portion of Pauperhaugh township, as indicated on the first edition Ordnance Survey 6-inch to 1 mile map. It is located 210 metres from the road, on the north side of Debdon track.
