Description
The Old Granary and attached wall, located 40 metres south-east of Dukesfield Hall, is an outbuilding dating from around 1700. It is constructed of coursed rubble with stone slate roofing. The north elevation features one storey and a basement, divided into three bays with irregular spacing. There are steps leading up to a central boarded door that is framed by a wave-moulded surround. To the left, there is an outshut, and the gables are coped with long moulded kneelers. The left side shows a widened basement door, a window above with a chamfered surround, and two chamfered segmental pigeon holes set into the gable. The rear elevation includes a projecting wing with privies, featuring a boarded door in a rebated surround, a chute from the first-floor privy to the right, and a small chamfered window above. Additionally, there is a short curved section of wall with flat coping attached to the south-east corner of the wing. Inside, the basement contains old transverse beams.
