Description

ROCHESTER CATCLEUGH NT 70 SE 8/78 Wood cabin c.100 yards south-east of Catcleugh House II

Wood cabin. Built c.1891 as part of the shanty town called 'Newcastle' to house workers building the Catcleugh Reservoir for the Newcastle and Gateshead Water Company.

Wood boarding with corrugated-iron roof and snecked stone chimneys. Single storey, 4 bays. Small gabled porch in second bay.with boarded door on right return. Three 12-pane Yorkshire sashes. Gabled roof with banded ridge stacks.
