Description

These are farm cottages built in the early to mid-19th century, located approximately 60 yards north of the Garden House. The cottages are rendered with tooled-and-margined ashlar dressings, feature brick cornices, and have a Welsh slate roof. There are two single-storey ranges with a two-storey arched gateway between them, and the corners are accentuated with rusticated quoins.

The left range consists of seven irregular bays. It has a doorway located in a later 19th-century wooden porch in the second bay, and a boarded door with an overlight in the fourth bay. The windows are 12-pane sashes set in alternating block surrounds.

The gateway features a segmental-arched carriage entry with a chamfered surround, a keystone, and a brick tunnel vault. Above the entry, there are raised quoins and a two-light window on the first floor, which may have been intended for a dovecote. The range also has a moulded cornice and a plain parapet, although the roof is not visible.

The right range has six irregular bays, with boarded doors and overlights in the third and fourth bays, and it also features 12-pane sash windows. Both ranges have stepped and cogged brick cornices, hipped roofs, and four corniced ridge stacks.
