Description
Akeld Cottages, built around 1892, are farm cottages constructed of random rubble with tooled-and-margined ashlar dressings. They feature a Welsh slate roof and brick chimneys. The cottages are arranged in four single-storey ranges surrounding a central courtyard. The north range has a carriage entry in the center, with six bays to the left and five bays to the right. The east and west ranges each have six bays, while the south range has eleven bays. Most doors are boarded, except for one late 20th-century door, and they have overlights. The cottages also feature 12-pane sash windows set in alternating-block surrounds. The north range has a gabled roof, while the south range has a hipped roof, and many of the cottages have square corniced ridge stacks.
