Description

The Thompson Memorial, located 3 metres south of the parish church door in Meldon, is a Grade II listed memorial made of stone. It features two shaped headstones that bear inscriptions commemorating the deaths of the children of James Thompson, who died between 1691 and 1729. These headstones are positioned between grooved octagonal stone posts. The reverse side of the southern headstone is adorned with a skeleton, while the northern headstone displays an hourglass and crossbones, both carved in relief.
