Description

This is a range of lead mine buildings located on the east side of the River West Allen, dating from the early 19th century with some alterations made in the late 19th century. The buildings are constructed from rubble and originally featured a stone slate roof, which has been replaced by 20th-century metal sheeting on the right side. The structure is two storeys tall and consists of 11 bays.

The sixth bay has a boarded door with a four-pane overlight, while other doorways and most windows have lost their original carpentry. There is an inserted cart entrance with a timber lintel in the second bay. The building has a brick ridge stack and a stone stack at the right end. The rear elevation includes various outshuts and a square stone stack for the furnace located in bay 7. Inside, there are several furnace openings with segmental arches in the rear wall, and a blacksmith's forge can be found in bay 11.
