Description

The dovecote, located 20 metres south-east of Linden House, dates from the mid-18th century and is accompanied by attached garden walls. The external elevations are constructed of rubble with roughly-shaped quoins, while the internal elevations are made of brick in irregular stretcher bond, featuring cut dressings. The roof of the dovecote is covered with Welsh slate and topped with a wooden turret.

On the south elevation, there is an altered flush-panelled door set in a chamfered stone surround. The gables are coped, and a square turret sits on the ridge, which includes three round-headed pigeon holes, a pyramidal cap, and a weathervane. The left side shows a blocked window with a stone lintel, while the right side features boarded doors at two levels, with the upper door pierced by pigeon holes.

The garden wall connects the north-west corner of the dovecote to the south-east corner of Linden House, featuring flat coping and a boarded door in a chamfered surround. Another section of the garden wall runs from the south-east corner of the dovecote to the ha-ha wall, containing a boarded door with a tooled-and-margined lintel and is patched and heightened in stone. The attached farm buildings at the rear are not of interest.
