Description
The wall and railings enclosing the lawn in front of the Sun Hotel date from around 1825. The structure is made of squared stone with cut dressings and features cast iron elements. The lawn is crescent-shaped and slopes downwards. The longer side facing the Sun Hotel has a retaining wall that is 1.2 metres high, with a chamfered plinth, pitched coping, and pilasters. There is a central gateway with rectangular piers that have banded pyramidal caps, leading up five steps to the lawn. At the upper edge of the lawn, which faces the road, there is a dwarf wall with chamfered coping that supports a railing with open lozenge-shaped tops to the bars, positioned between monolithic end piers with gabled caps. Part of the railing was damaged by a road accident at the time of listing.
