Description
This is an early 19th-century house on Castle Street, Warkworth. The front wall was rebuilt in 1987 to match the original appearance. The front is faced with ashlar stone, the returns are rendered, and the rear is brick with stone dressings. The roof is slate, with brick stacks, the right-hand stack being rebuilt in the 20th century but retaining its original base. The house is two storeys high and three bays wide. It has a plinth. The front features a six-panel door with an overlight, set within a raised surround with pilasters and a cambered lintel. To the right of this is a pair of vertical-panelled double doors within a segmental carriage arch. The windows are renewed 12-pane sashes, with slightly projecting sills, and a molded eaves cornice. The gable ends have coped details. The rear elevation displays first-floor 12-pane sashes with wedge lintels, and a late 19th-century roof dormer. The building is included on the list for its contribution to the group value of the area.
