Description
Hulne House is a house built in the late 18th century, constructed from squared tooled stone of near-ashlar quality. It features a 20th-century concrete tile roof with brick stacks and is designed in an L-plan. The building has three storeys and two bays, with a plinth and sill bands. The centre doorway is blocked, while the right bay has a renewed doorway with an overlight in an enlarged window opening. On the far right, there are panelled double doors in an early 20th-century raised stone surround, inscribed 'WAR MEMORIAL INSTITUTE', situated under a cornice. The windows are primarily 12-pane casements, except for the top floor, which has 9-pane casements. The gables are coped and supported by moulded kneelers, with the left end stack rebuilt in the 20th century.
At the rear, the inner return of the wing displays an old chamfered doorway in the two-storey section, with a boarded door and three 12-pane sash windows in the single-storey part. The building is included for its group value.
