Description
New Houses is a terrace of five houses built in 1788. The structure is made of rubble with tooled quoins and door surrounds, topped with a stone slate roof. It stands two storeys high and features five bays in total. There are boarded doors located to the left of the centre and in the penultimate bays. On the first floor, there are five windows above five ground-floor windows, along with five stair windows at an intermediate level, all of which are 9-pane sashes. An inscribed panel over the door in the central bay reads: 'Built by Sir Tho. Blackett Bart Anno Domini 1788'. The end houses have entrances on the right and left returns, which are now covered by later porches. The rear elevation displays sash windows, most of which have been renewed.
