Description

This is a headstone dating from 1775, located 3.5 metres east of the south-east corner of the parish church in Whitley Chapel, Hexhamshire. It is made of sandstone and features a swan-neck pedimented top with a central cherub above a crowned death's head, a scythe, a circled snake, an hourglass, and a row of books. The inscription below commemorates John Curry of Gairshield and is flanked by ornamental pilasters.
