Description
Low Rawgreen Farmhouse, attached Bastle House, and Barn are a collection of buildings dating from the early 17th century, mid 18th century, and late 19th century. They are constructed of coursed rubble with ashlar dressings and feature slate roofs and quoins. The two-storey Bastle House, located to the north, dates from the early 17th century and has a 20th-century tile roof with a single reduced gable stack. The east front includes a central opening with a wooden lintel, likely a former doorway, and above it are two glazing bar sashes with ashlar lintels. The west front features a doorway leading to animal houses, with a flight of stone steps to the right that leads to a former doorway for living accommodation. Attached to the north is a lean-to pigsty, which is likely a converted privy.
The farmhouse to the south, built in the mid 18th century and raised in the late 19th century, has a Welsh slate roof with a single ashlar coped gable to the south and two brick gable stacks. The east front has an off-centre doorway with a 20th-century door, flanked by pairs of glazing bar sashes, with the right-hand pair being taller. Above are three through-eaves gabled dormers, each featuring a plain sash. To the south, there is a small barn that has been converted into a garage, with a stone slate roof and breathers. Inside the Bastle House, there is a stone fireplace on the first floor and the roof retains some original timbers.
