Description
Durhamfield Farmhouse and the adjacent outbuildings date back to 1691, marked by the initials C and I on the lintel. The outbuildings were constructed in the late 18th century or early 19th century. They are built from coursed rubble with cut quoins and dressings, topped with stone slab roofs and featuring stone stacks.
The farmhouse is two storeys high and has two wide bays. The central door has been renewed and is set within a moulded surround that is stepped at the head. This door is flanked by 20th-century casement windows. To the left of the door, there is a 17th-century four-light window, while the first floor features 20th-century casements set in 19th-century openings with shaped keyed lintels. The ends of the house have stepped stacks, with the left stack rebuilt on an old base.
The left outbuilding has a vertical-panelled door with a stone surround on the left side, and above it is a boarded pitching door flanked by slit vents. The left return of this outbuilding displays a reverse-stepped gable. The right outbuilding features a boarded door in a chamfered surround, with part-slatted windows on either side. Above, there is a boarded pitching door flanked by similar windows, with timber lintels over the upper openings.
On the rear elevation, each outbuilding has boarded doors on the first floor, with an external stone stair leading to the left one, and slit vents. A late 19th-century rear wing of the house is noted but is not of special interest.
