Description
This is a terrace of three cottages located south-east of Mitford Steads Farmhouse, dating from the late 18th century and heightened in the mid-19th century. The cottages are constructed of rubble with cut quoins and dressings, featuring tooled-and-margined elements in the 19th-century sections. The roof is covered with pantiles and includes one stack that has been rebuilt in white brick.
The terrace is two storeys high with six irregular bays. There are two pairs of doorways and one single doorway, all with tooled lintels. The ground floor has 4-pane sash windows, while the upper floor features 4-pane Yorkshire sashes, although much of the original carpentry is missing. The gables are coped and sit on deep footstones. There are end stacks, with the left one rebuilt on an old base, and one ridge stack.
At the time of the survey, the cottages were empty and in a derelict state, but they hold landscape value. There is a brick outshut to the west, which is not considered of special interest.
