Description
Mitford Steads Farmhouse is an early 19th-century house, possibly incorporating earlier elements. It is constructed from squared tooled stone and features tooled-and-margined lintels. The roof is made of mixed purple and blue slate, with a right stack that is partly brick.
The south elevation has two storeys and three slightly irregular bays. There is a left-of-centre projecting porch that has a renewed door and moulded gable coping, along with 12-pane sash windows. The hipped roof has two ridge stacks; the left stack is stepped and corniced, while the right stack has been rebuilt on an old base.
The left return has two bays with blind windows on the left side. The rear elevation includes a projecting porch with a small barred window beneath a coped gable featuring moulded kneelers, and a boarded door on the left return.
