Description

Foss Bridge, over the River Wansbeck, is a bridge from the mid-18th century. It is constructed of tooled-and-margined stone featuring ashlar voussoirs and a parapet. The bridge has two segmental arches with a triangular cutwater between them. The arch rings are complemented by a band below the parapet. The thin parapet includes three shallow pilasters on each internal face and has gabled coping that ends in round piers with banded domed caps set on square bases.
