Description

The farmbuilding group located to the north-west of Embleton Hall consists of a collection of structures that have been converted into stables and a coach house. These buildings date from the late 18th century, with the gingang likely from the early 19th century and some alterations made in the late 19th century. The construction features coursed rubble, with squared stone on the south gables and gingang piers, and a snecked stone front on the north range. The roofs are primarily covered with Welsh slate, except for the east range which has Lakeland slates.

The layout consists of ranges surrounding a rectangular yard that is open to the south, with the gingang positioned at the rear of the west range. All structures are single-storey. The north range has four bays, each featuring a stable door with a part-slatted window to the left, except for the left end bay which has a boarded door and a 4-pane sash window. The right side has a coped gable. The lower east range includes a boarded door flanked by a part-slatted window on the left and a 5-pane casement on the right, all set in stone surrounds. The south end of this range shows two blocked doors and a pedimented gable that encloses a later segmental-arched window. The west range serves as the coach house, featuring late 19th-century boarded sliding doors, with the south end displaying a band beneath an open-pedimented gable. The gingang at the rear has seven stepped piers with rubble infill between them and a pyramidal roof.

Inside the gingang, there is a heavy north-south beam supported by larger piers, and the roof structure includes a central post with radial struts extending to the purlins.
