Description

No. 1 Church Street is a house dated 1783, featuring the initials T M on the door lintel. The building is constructed from squared stone and has a Welsh slate roof, with the right end stack rebuilt in brick on an old base. It stands two storeys high and has three irregular bays. The central door has been renewed, and the glazing in the old openings has also been renewed, with slightly projecting sills, except for a widened window on the ground floor to the left. The right end gable is coped, and there is a right end stack along with a corniced ridge stack. This property is included for its group value, as it, along with Nos. 1-4 Church Street and Kielland on Front Street, forms an important corner group.
