Description

This is a stone marker located 60 metres west of the west gate of the courtyard at Wallington Hall. It dates from the mid-18th century and serves as a marker for an outcrop of a coal seam. The stone is an upright slab with an arched top, inscribed with the words "The Drift to meet the Seam of Coal here."
